BASIC ABOUT ELECTRONICS AND IT IS GROWTH:
To understand the worlds latest Electronics Technology NEWS one must know the basic elements of Electrical and Electronics.
The basic definition of an Electronics is “it is a branch of Electrical Engineering “ The electrical engineering has been developed to such an extent that for Current Conduction , we require a Medium. The Electronics Engineering has been established to such an extent that there is current Conduction even in Vacuum.

Later the development of Electronics after the Vacuum Tube reached the Semi conductor level.
The basic theory behind the Semi conductor is the ATOMIC STRUCTURE. As per John Daltons atomic theory an Atom is defined as the smallest particle of an element which is indivisible. Later the scientist Bohr Rutherford altered the Daltons Atomic Theory and stated that, an atom is the smallest particle of an element but it can be divisible.
They assigned a model for an atom as per that an atom consists of a Central Nucleus and Electrons revolve around the Nucleus in Elliptical Orbits.
The three fundamental particle of an Atom are Electrons, Protons and Neutrons. Electrons are negatively charged, Protons are positively charged and the Neutrons do not have any charge. An atom consists of a central Nucleus, the Electrons revolve around the nucleus in Elliptical orbits . The number of electrons which revolve around the nucleus in elliptical orbits is given by the the formula 2 n². Where’ n ‘is the number of orbit, for the first orbit n=1, 2 n² =2x1²=2
The first orbit have 2 electrons, n=2, 2n²=2(2) ² =8,
The second orbit have 8 electrons, n=3, 2x3²=18,
The third orbit will have 18 electrons.
This rule has its own exemption, the last orbit should have a maximum no of 8 electrons and the last but one should have a maximum number of 18 electrons. The electrons present in the outer most orbit plays an important role. It is this electrons which decides whether the given substance is a CONDUCTOR, INSULATOR or SEMI CONDUCTOR. The electrons
The present in the outer most orbit is known as Free Electrons or Valence Electrons .

Accordingly if the number of Valence electrons is less than 4, the given substance is a CONDUCTOR. The number of valence is greater than four, the given substance is an INSULATOR. If the number of Valence electrons is equal to 4, the given substance is a SEMICONDUCTOR.
The commonly known Semiconductors are Silicon (si) with atomic number 14, Germanium (Ge) with atomic number 32, Carbon with atomic number 6. By using the rule 2n² for si with atomic number 14, the distribution of electrons are 2,8,4 respectively in 1st , 2nd ,3rd orbit. Based on this we can define a Semiconductor as it is a substance whose valence electrons is always equal to 4.
Accordingly there are two types of Semiconductors
1.Intrinsic Semiconductor
2.Extrinsic Semiconductor.

The current carrying capacities of the semiconductors are improved by adding impurities to a pure Semiconductor. The process of adding impurities to pure semiconductor there by adding impurities to alter its chemical structure and to improve its conduction is called Doping.

There are two types of impurities Pentavalent impurity and Trivalent impurity. The addition of pentavalent impurity produces large number of free electrons and the trivalent impurity produces large number of holes. Depending upon the type of impurity added the extrinsic semiconductors can be of the following two types (1) p-type and (2) n-type.
The current conducting capability of a Semiconductor is of the two types of charge carriers, Holes and Free electrons. In case of p-type semiconductor the majority carriers are the holes and the minority carriers are the electrons. In case of n-type semiconductors the majority carriers are the free electrons and the minority carriers are the holes.
When a p-type Semiconductor combines with a n-type Semiconductor, they resulting one pn junction, two terminal and layer device is known as Diode.
The terminal which is taken out from the p-type Semiconductor material is known as Anode (A) and the terminals which is taken out from n-type Semiconductor material is known as Cathode (K). This Diode has a unique characteristic of conducting current in only one direction that is forward biased.
The particular property of the diode to conduct current in only one direction is used to use it as a Rectifier. It is a devise which convert the available AC to the required DC. The dc power supplies are the source of all Electronic. Later with the invention of Transistor by J.Bardeen and W H Brattain Bell Telephone Laboratories in USA , the transistor almost replace the Vacuum Tube in many applications.
The further development of Electronics leads to power electronic devices such as SER, FET, UJT, TRIAC, DIAC etc.
Power Electronics is a branch of electronics which deals with the control of power flow in a system.

Multimeter as the name indicates it is used for multipurpose measurement, it is used as a voltmeter (for measuring AC/DC voltage) Ammeter (for measuring AC/DC current) Ohmmeter (for measuring resistance)
The further development of discrete components leads to a Integrated Circuit (IC) in which circuit components such as Transistors, Diode, Resistors, Capacitors etc, are automatically part of a small Semiconductor chip.
The Semiconductor chip is further developed into Microprocessors. Microprocessors advanced to Micro Controllers. Micro controllers presently lead to Surface Mount Technology. In Surface Mount Technology (SMD) have small terminals which are fixed using printed circuit board. The Surface mount technology is mostly used because of its features like small size, joining of devices without making any holes and easy de soldering etc.
The SMD devices are Resisters, Capacitors, Diode, Transistors,MOSFET, Potentiometer, Two ways switches etc.
The growth of Electronics leads to various applications in the field of Science and Technology, Medical Technology, Engineering and other communication devices. Since it is a developing field the further Researches leads to many practically revolutionized applications, there is no limit for its development and it will continue for ever.

Wearable computing ring allows users to write words and numbers with thumb

Credit: Georgia Tech FingerSound uses wearable ring technology to detect numbers and letters drawn on fingers.
With the whirl of a thumb, Georgia Tech researchers have created technology that allows people to trace letters and numbers on their fingers and see the figures appear on a nearby computer screen. The system is triggered by a thumb ring outfitted with a gyroscope and tiny microphone. As wearers strum their thumb across the fingers, the hardware detects the movement.
In a video demonstration, the "written" figures appear on an adjacent screen. In the future, the researchers say the technology could be used to send phone calls to voicemail or answer text messages -- all without the wearer reaching for their phone or even looking at it.

"When a person grabs their phone during a meeting, even if trying to silence it, the gesture can infringe on the conversation or be distracting," said Thad Starner, the Georgia Tech School of Interactive Computing professor leading the project. "But if they can simply send the call to voicemail, perhaps by writing an 'x' on their hand below the table, there isn't an interruption."

Starner also says the technology could be used in virtual reality, replacing the need to take off a head-mounted device in order to input commands via a mouse or keyboard.

The research team wanted to build a system that would always be available and easy to use.
"A ring augments the fingers in a way that is fairly non-obstructive during daily activities. A ring is also socially acceptable, unlike other wearable input devices," said Cheng Zhang, the Georgia Tech graduate student who created the technology.

The system is called Fingersound. While other gesture-based systems require the user to perform gestures in the air, Fingersound uses the fingers as a canvas. This allows the system to clearly recognize the beginning and end of an intended gesture by using the microphone and gyroscope to detect the signal. In addition to helping recognize the start and end of a gesture, it also provides tactile feedback while performing the gestures. This feedback is crucial for user experience and is missing on other in-air gestures

"Our system uses sound and movement to identify intended gestures, which improves the accuracy compared to a system just looking for movements," said Zhang. "For instance, to a gyroscope, random finger movements during walking may look very similar to the thumb gestures. But based on our investigation, the sounds caused by these daily activities are quite different from each other."

Fingersound sends the sound captured by the contact microphone and motion data captured by the gyroscope sensor through multiple filtering mechanisms. The system then analyzes it to determine whether a gesture was performed or whether it was simply noise from other finger-related activity.

The research was presented earlier this year at Ubicomp and the ACM International Symposium on Wearable Computing along with two other papers that feature ring-based gesture technology. FingOrbits allows the wearer to control apps on a smartwatch or head-mounted display by rubbing their thumb on their hand. With SoundTrak, people can write words or 3-D doodles in the air by localizing the absolute position of the finger in 3-D space, then see the results simultaneously on a computer screen.

The new technologies were developed by the same team that created a technique that allowed smartwatch wearers to control their device by tapping its sides.
